Description
Up close and personal with a beautiful vein of gold colored rock in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona just east of Apache Junction. For my 2003 visit, the desert came alive after some bountiful rains. I'm told this is the greenest it had appeared in many years, which makes this mid-March picture all the more beautiful given its fleeting scenery. Within two months the desert's heat and dryness would have consumed all the lively green brush and grasses covering the hillsides.
