Looking Across the Desert Floor at Elephant Butte

Looking across the desert floor of Monument Valley towards the Elephant Butte. The principal source of erosion here is wind, which I would estimate gusted better than 60 mph shortly after this photo was taken. I experienced my first sandstorm at Monument Valley, luckily it passed shortly before these photos were taken.
