Whitetail Doe in Canaan Valley
A lone female Canaan Valley Whitetail Deer stares into the camera from probably 20 yards away with saturated hues of autumn in the background. I stumbled across her browsing the forest floor while I was photographing along Blackwater River in the Canaan Valley bog. The deer in this area are surprisingly tolerant of people and show little fear. I probably would have ventured closer to this deer if it weren't for an arm of the bog separating me from her, but thankfully my 200 mm lens delivered this fine shot.
