Gentle Trail Overlook with Red Spruce and Fall Color
A tapestry of color abounds in the first half of October from the heights of Gentle Trail Overlook in Blackwater Falls State Park, WV. Red Spruce pine helped to moderate the fall color that is aflame to just about every deciduous tree in the high country of West Virginia. Picture looks down on the beginning of the Blackwater Canyon and in the distance can be seen half of Blackwater Falls. Gentle Trail leads to the overlook that is a wooden balcony at the canyon's rim, making it a popular feature (read crowded), unless you're early in the morning as an early October weekend requires.
