Canyon of Golden Fall Color Beyond Pase Point Overlook

This picture from October 11, 2009 features Pase Point Overlook with its abundance of waxy green rhododendrons and large sandstone rock formations back splashed by an incredible display of golden fall foliage from one side of Blackwater Canyon to the other. The portion of the canyon seen in the photo is carved by the North Fork of Blackwater River. Reaching the overlook requires over three miles of hiking from the nearest parking lot. The trek is a fairly gentle grade as you slowly descend below the canyon's rim.
