Youghiogheny River Autumn Reflections
The Youghiogheny River in the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania typically is fast flowing with plenty of whitewater rapids, but this portion of the river is normally quite calm and serene allowing for mirror like reflections in its water. This picture was taken during the evening hours as the river and base of Chestnut Ridge was in shadow while the sun lit up vegetation above the picture's frame, but some of the lit vegetation be seen as bright yellow in the reflection on the river. A coal gondola train led by Chessie System locomotives and large limestone rocks also add their own contribution to the river's reflection.
