Tharp Knob's View of Youghiogheny Gorge Fog
A huge bank of fog is trapped in the Youghiogheny River Gorge above Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania as captured from Tharp Knob Overlook. Not in the photograph but evident in others from that morning are the tops of Laurel Ridge clear and in sunshine while the lower elevations were trapped in these dreary conditions. The river rapids, extensive forest canopy, and waterfalls of the Youghiogheny River help contribute to this almost daily occurrence of fog. It has its effects visible in autumn as the trees usually drenched in its moisture peak out earlier than others with fall foliage.
