Remaining Corn Stalks at an Amish Farm
This photograph was taken while hearing the hum of a tractor, worked by an Amish man, collecting the corn stalks row by row at this Amish farm in southern Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The Amish here accept mechanical tractors for working their farms but buggies are the mode of transportation. The area east of Mount Davis is filled with farms and rural roads as often traveled by horse and buggy as by car. Shortly before taking a side road to see what farms may be around the next bend I passed an Amish boy playing with a homemade wooden wagon on a steep road. We exchanged waves as is expected here.
