Pristine Forest along Great Allegheny Passage Trail

Pristine Forest along Great Allegheny Passage Trail

Pictured is a scene taken about five miles south of Connellsville and features a matured forest past the point where Chestnut Ridge is cut by the Youghiogheny River along with the Great Allegheny Trail (this segment known as the Youghiogheny River Trail). In the distance a jogger can be seen as a blur approaching in early September of 2007. Between Connellsville and Ohiopyle is unbroken natural beauty without interruption for nearly 18 miles, making this one of the longest tracts of the Great Allegheny Passage without any civilization to interrupt Mother Nature's handy work. This particular section of the trail always reminded me of a garden with a variety of wildflowers and other plants almost placed by design.
