Great Allegheny Passage Trail at Chestnut Ridge
A vibrant evening sun casts a bright warm light against the Great Allegheny Passage Trail and the trees along it in this early May photo, while the Youghiogheny River and bottom slopes of Chestnut Ridge, in the distance, are shadowed by the higher elevations of the same ridge. A stone mile marker, 83, stands prominently with the purple blossoms of a red bud tree also visible along the river. Picture was taken on the eastern side of the Chestnut Ridge Water Gap that extends for several miles along the river south of Connellsville, PA.
