Dunbar Creek and Black Sandstone Rocks

Freshly fallen leaves line the shores of Dunbar Creek and its ledges of black sandstone as it descends Chestnut Ridge in Fayette County, PA. Rainbow trout are visible in the calm pools that seem to follow each rapid in the creek. The sound of water splashing against the black sandstone sounds like people are nearby having a boisterous conversation and perhaps this is why the Dunbar area is said to be haunted by at least one legendary ghost: Betty Knox.
