Cucumber Falls Precipice with Spring Green

Cucumber Falls Precipice with Spring Green

This picture focuses only on the top portion of Cucumber Falls during a spring heavy flow period making the waterfall wider than normal. The thirty-nine foot high waterfall follows a sandstone lined stream bed that ends abruptly when it crashes into a deep ravine only a short distance ahead of its merger with the Youghiogheny River. The Cucumber Gorge is lined with broken slabs of sandstone testifying to the waterfall's journey as it continued to move backwards away from the river yearly.
