Cole Run Falls in Forbes State Forest

Cole Run Falls, located on the slopes of Laurel Ridge in western Somerset County, Pennsylvania, is featured in this October 21, 2009 picture. Freshly fallen leaves can be seen covering much of the rocky landscape along the base of the falls as this area of the Laurel Highlands had already passed their peak of autumn. The waterfall was light on water when I photographed it in October, and I hope to return after a rainier period to capture its true potential. This area of Forbes State Forest is quite beautiful with fast flowing streams and trails scattered in the mountainous country on the east side of Laurel Ridge.
