Autumn Train Reflection on Yough River

Autumn Train Reflection on Yough River

Optimal conditions were in place for a reflection of this Chessie System freight train along with the brilliant fall foliage — at peak — south of Connellsville, Pennsylvania in the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania. The Youghiogheny River, uncharacteristically calm in this section, was already in shadow while the river bank, railroad, and the bottom slopes of Chestnut Ridge were lit brightly by an evening sun. Picture was taken on October 30, 2007 after I had just completed a long bike ride along the Youghiogheny River. While riding back to Connellsville I heard the train on the opposite side of the river stopping, and I then raced to this spot where I knew the best chance of capturing a beautiful reflection of it would be possible.
