Fall Afternoon on North Fork Mountain in West Virginia
Rays of a late afternoon sun penetrate the mostly cloudy skies lighting up a portion of the North Fork Valley below and the distant slopes of Allegheny Front ridge. In the foreground are the peculiar and ancient Tuscarora Sandstone rocks that line the western edge of North Fork Mountain like a wall perched high in the sky. Picture was taken during an all day hike to the top of North Fork Mountain on October 13, 2009.
