Description
Baughman's Overlook is a popular scenic vista located halfway up the slopes of Laurel Ridge, and (as featured) offers an unparalleled view of the Youghiogheny River rounding the flat peninsula known as "The Flats," along with Laurel Ridge rising above it (on the right). The Laurel Ridge water gap is considerably wider than the Chestnut Ridge water gap near South Connellsville, despite the former being considerably higher in elevation. Likely the Youghiogheny River met with less resistant limestone as it cut its way through.
Subjects featured: Laurel Ridge; Youghiogheny River; Youghiogheny River Trail; Great Allegheny Passage Trail; Baughman Rock Overlook; Baughman Trail;
