George Washington's Fort of Necessity at Noon

Photograph was taken of Fort Necessity on an unusually sultry September day at the Fort Necessity National Battlefield. Fort Necessity is the site of George Washington's early defeat, at the start of the French and Indian War, to French and Indian forces. The palisade fort is a recreation built at the site of the original.
