Youghiogheny River and Sandstone Rocks in Fall
Large slabs of broken sandstone rocks line the Youghiogheny River in the Chestnut Ridge Water Gap as pictured with a tapestry of fall color lining the distant shore and side of the ridge. The ancient Allegheny Mountains perform their greatest show of scenery during the month of October. This scene was accessible a few miles south of Connellsville following a steep descent from the Great Allegheny Passage Trail that connects Pittsburgh and Washington, DC.
