Youghiogheny River's Entrance Rapid in Early Autumn
This scene of white water rapids in the Youghiogheny River is back dropped by early fall foliage captured on an off shoot of the Ferncliff Trail that rounds the Ferncliff Peninsula in the heart of Ohiopyle State Park. An early morning hike on one of Pennsylvania's most scenic, albeit short, trails not long after sunrise entails the fresh scents of the moist forest floor permeating the air interrupted only by a contrasting white pine or hemlock fragrance. The Yough's Entrance Rapid as featured is considered Class III to IV. A loud boisterous sound of flowing water is all you'll hear here.
