Looking Westward on Mount Davis in Fall
Photograph is looking out towards the west from the Lookout Tower on top of Mount Davis with a vibrant display of fall foliage ion the foreground. The distant hazy hills are actually Laurel Ridge cut by the Youghiogheny River Gorge in Ohiopyle State Park some fifteen miles away. The Lookout Tower is the focal point for the casual visitor to Pennsylvania's highest point. While most of the vegetation is stunted and deformed on top of Mount Davis, the distant tall pines were an anomaly that caught the attention of visitors as many remarked about their peculiarity to the otherwise uniformly short forest canopy.
