Cucumber Falls Ice Formation in January
A continuous week of bitter cold temperatures with several snowfalls contributed to this icy scene of Cucumber Falls and a portion of the Cucumber Gorge blanketed in snow and ice. While the waterfall was completed frozen over recently, in this picture a stream of chilly water instead runs up over the 35 foot high ice formation that continues unbroken from the rim of the waterfall to the bottom of the gorge. The evergreen foliage of Rhododendrons provides a contrast to the white and blue hues of snow and ice.
