Upper Cliff Dwelling in Tonto National Monument
Sheltered by eighty foot high cave are the Upper Cliff Dwellings in Tonto National Monument that were built 700 years ago and were in use for over a hundred years before being abandoned with the collapse of the Salado people and culture. It is believed the entire Salt River Valley, now mostly flooded by the waters of Roosevelt Lake, was covered with similar dwellings. An enjoyable and informative guided hike with a park ranger was required to get to this dwelling. While I have color photographs of it available on the "Upper Dwelling Pictures" link below I think the black and white looked visually interesting.
