San Tan Mountains at Sunset
Picture taken from a trail in the San Tan Mountain Regional Park featuring the San Tans with a sun setting behind them while it is partially obscured by clouds. These desert mountains only rise to over 2800 feet in elevation so they lack the dramatic climate and biome variances of the sky islands to the east. The lands beyond the mountains are apart of the Gila Indian Reservation. Spring was quite evident while hiking the San Tans in February as several plants were covered with spring flowers and green grass aided by recent rains were covering some of the desert floor.
