Ocotillo Branches with Superstition Mountain at Sunset
An Ocotillo Cactus is in the foreground with the rock face of Superstition Mountain Towering in the background while it is lit warmly by a setting December 26 sun. Various cacti can be seen in the plain leading up to the mountain's bottom most slopes that are strangely devoid of most cacti. In the distant in the left side of the picture can be seen several tall hoodoos, some of which are referred to as Praying Hands. Superstition Mountain is nearly forty miles east of Phoenix but is a prominent part of the city's skyline. The distinct mountain's rock cliff "The Flatiron" (not in picture) towers at 4,861 feet in elevation.
