Mogollon Rim, an Escarpment's Edge at Sedona
The towering mountains, cliffs and heights of the Mogollon Rim can be seen in this photograph taken shortly before sunset from along the Airport Mesa Loop Trail above Sedona, Arizona. The vast Colorado Plateau, an escarpment covering several states, rises abruptly by around 2000 feet. The normally white Coconino Sandstone is turned gold by the light of an evening sun. A dead tree stands in the foreground.
